Michael Troyer, Sr.
Michael Troyer, Sr. was born in Europe around
1730 and died in Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1807.
It is thought that he came to America with a step-father
Holly, sometime between 1745 and 1750.
His will was recorded in Somerset County, Pennsylvania on
April 4, 1807.
Michael Troyer, Sr. married Magdalena Mast
(MS-13) in about 1752.
She was born in Switzerland about 1736 and died in Holmes
County, Ohio in 1827.
She was a sister to Bishop Jacob Mast.
She had immigrated to America with her uncle, Johannes Mast,
on the ship “Brotherhood”, arriving in Philadelphia on November 3,
1750.
Michael and Magdalena had six children:

John, born in Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania on February 3, 1753.
He married Veronica Yoder (YR-231) and moved to Norfolk
County, Ontario, Canada where he died on February 28, 1842.

Michael who was born in Lancaster
County, PA on September 4, 1754 and died Holmes County, Ohio around
1836. He married twice.
His first wife was Anna Rickenbach (RB-24); they lived in
Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1790.
His second wife was Magdalena Rickenbach (RB-35) and they
were living in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, PA in 1800.

Christian, born May 18, 1756 in
Lancaster County, PA and died in York County, Ontario, Canada on
July 20, 1839. He
married twice. His first
wife was Barbara Yoder (YR-232) who was born in Berks County, PA in
about 1756. His second
wife was, Elizabeth Becker who was born in 1776.

Barbara, born on January 31, 1758 and
died sometime before 1850.
She married twice.
First to Henry Jacob Rhoads and second to Peter Sipe (SI).

Magdalena who was born October 20,
1760 and died in Somerset County, PA on August 30, 1843.
She married Christian Yoder (YR-233).
They were living in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County,
Pennsylvania in 1800

Anna was born on September 4, 1762
and married Christian Lehman.
Michael Troyer, Sr. is buried in the Christian
Blough (Blauch) cemetery in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset
County, Pennsylvania.
Shortly after Michael, Sr. died in 1807, his wife Magdalena and
their son Michael Troyer, Jr. moved to Holmes County, Ohio.
Magdalena is buried in Holmes County, Ohio.
Michael Troyer, Sr. warranted 309 ¼ acres of
land in Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County, PA on March 5,
1783. His land was south
of the town of Berlin and along Buffalo Creek.
The land he acquired, adjoined that of his son, Michael, Jr..
Michael Troyer, Sr. paid the Supply Tax in 1781
and 1783 while living in Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County
(now Somerset County), Pennsylvania.
