A Cambria chapter was organized in 1947
The formation of the Somerset chapter was annouced in February 1946
and the chapter was chartered in 1949.
The
Cambria
and Somerset County chapters combined in 1976 to form the single chapter we have now.
Membership is not limited to residents of Somerset and Cambia
counties or SAR members with ancestors that lived in these counties.
The members voted to change the name of the chaper in early 2019.
The chapter received the Pennsylvania Most Active Small Chapter
award for five consecutive years 2014 - 2018.
We
have about 50 members, and we are always looking for new ones.
Additional information about the chapter formation can be viewed in
the attached pdf.
