Michael Troyer, Jr.

Michael Troyer, Jr. (TY-2) was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on September 4, 1754 to Michael Troyer, Sr. (TY) and his wife Magdalena Mast (MS-13).  His father died around 1807 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and his mother died in Holmes County, Ohio in 1827. 

Michael Troyer, Jr. had five siblings all of which were born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania:

1.       John, born February 3, 1753 and died February 28, 1842 (TY-1), married Veronica Yoder? (YR-231).  He moved to Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada.

2.       Christian (TY-3) who was born May 18, 1756 and died in York County, Ontario, Canada on July 20, 1839, married Barbara Yoder (b. 1756 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania)(YR-232) and then Elizabeth Becker (b. 1776).

3.       Barbara (TY-4) was born on January 31, 1758 and died before 1850.  She was married first to Henry Jacob Rhoads and then to Peter Sipe (SI).       

4.       Magdalena (TY-5) was born on October 20, 1760 and died on August 30, 1843 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  She married Christian Yoder (YR-233).

5.       Anna (TY-6) was born on September 4, 1762 and married Christian Lehman.

Michael’s brothers John and Christian moved to Ontario, Canada.  His sisters likely all moved west to Bedford County (now Somerset County), Pennsylvania when their father and Michael Jr. moved there sometime before 1781.  Barbara Sipe was living in Elk Lick Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1800 and Magdalena Yoder was residing in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1800.     

Michael Troyer, Jr. married his first wife, Anna Rickenbach (RB-24) likely around 1775.  Four children were born to them:

1.       Magdalena (TY-21) married Daniel Miller (ML-222) and they were living in Berlin Township, Holmes County, Ohio in 1840.

2.       Anna (TY-22) was born on July 10, 1779 and died August 1, 1840, married Ulrich Summers (SUB) and were living in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1820.

3.       John (TY-23) died in 1813 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  He had married Magdalena Miller (ML-242).

4.       Abraham (TY-24) was born December 31, 1788 and died June 13, 1858 in Holmes County, Ohio.  He married Susanna Rouse (1790-1879).   They resided in Prairie Township, Holmes County, Ohio in 1840.      

 

Michael Troyer, Jr. married his second wife Magdalena Rickenbach (RB-35).  They also had four children born to them:

1.       An unnamed daughter (TY-25).

2.       Jacob (TY-26) was born August 4, 1799 and died November 23, 1876.   He married Veronica/Fanny Yoder (YR-1629) and were living in German Township (now Clark Township), Holmes County, Ohio in 1830.    

3.       Daniel (TY-27) born November 17, 1802 and died September 18 1881.  He married three times.  First to Anna Bontrager (BN-251), then to Elizabeth Yoder (YR-12571) and finally to Elizabeth Miller (ML-6134) and they were residing in Walnut Creek Township, Holmes County, Ohio in 1880.

4.       Joseph (TY-28) (c. 1806 – c. 1858) married first to Leah Mast (MS-14a6) and then to Elizabeth Lantz (LZ-353) and they were residing in German Township, Holmes County, Ohio in 1850.

Michael warranted 203.5 acres of land in Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County (now Somerset County), Pennsylvania on February 5, 1785.  The property adjoined that of his father’s.  He paid the Supply tax in Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County (now Somerset County), Pennsylvania in 1781 and 1783.

Michael Troyer, Jr. and his wife Magdalena and his mother Magdalena, moved to Holmes County, Ohio after his father’s death in 1807.  Michael Troyer, Jr. died in about 1836.  He is buried in the Levi L. Yoder burial ground in Clark Township, Holmes County, Ohio.
