George Lenhart

George Lenhart was born about 1738 in Germany and died between 1797 and 1800 in Somerset County,
PA. George gave the oath of induction in the Dover, York County, PA area 06 October 1777 under Capt. George Franciscus.

George married Anna Catherine (?) about 1766 in Berks or York County, PA. She was born about 1740 in Pennsylvania or Germany and she died after 1800 in Somerset County, PA. They were buried in Somerset County, PA; however, the cemetery is believed destroyed 48 to 50 years ago. Very sad.

George had a brother that lived in southern Somerset County near Summerfield. That cemetery was moved to Newberry Cemetery in Addison Township, Somerset County, Pa. Many years ago the SAR and DAR had a new stone placed for him.

One of the Revolutionary Flags we have in the Somerset Cambria Chapter is in memory of George and Anna Catherine.
